The mission of the UConn Dairy Bar is to support the teaching and research programs in the Department of Animal Science, and outreach programs for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Cooperative Extension System and the public. The results of our primary mission produce a variety of high quality dairy products that are sold at the Dairy Bar, which generate funds to support the Department of Animal Science and its academic programs.
The Department of Animal Science oversees the operation of the Dairy Bar, which is staffed by UConn students learning about the various aspects of food production and retail sales of these products. More specifically, this knowledge includes proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures, food allergen and intolerance information, product development, stock rotation, and food service procedures, including customer service. The UConn Dairy Bar is a unique resource and is pleased to be able to assist other retail operations. This assistance may be in regards to their start up, trouble shooting, or general questions and concerns about good manufacturing practices, ingredient information, and product formulation.
